Titan Communication Connection | Issue 10: March 18, 2024

March 18, 2024
Hey Titan Families, March is a month of celebration for the arts in our schools, and this year, we're offering our community a unique opportunity to be part of an extraordinary event, a grand finale to Music in Our Schools Month. On March 28, Lorain City Schools will present a live simultaneous performance of Bruno Mars' uplifting friendship anthem, "Count on Me." Our middle and high school band and choirs will take the stage at Lorain High School. Simultaneously, our middle and elementary students will join the performance via live stream from their respective schools, showcasing the unity and collaboration that defines our school community. Our goal is to have the biggest concert this county has ever seen.

We invite all parents and community members to witness this exceptional performance and show your support for our incredibly talented Titans. But that's not all! We have an ambitious goal to catch the attention of Bruno Mars himself. We want him to join us virtually to hear our rendition of his song. Imagine the excitement and inspiration it would bring to our students! Benoit Barrail, who arranged this hit as a two-part choir and concert, will be watching live from France. To make this dream a reality, we need your help.

Let's flood Bruno Mars' social media with mentions about Lorain City Schools and our upcoming performance #LCSCountOnMeDay. Share our enthusiasm, and let's rally behind this effort together. Each day leading up to Count on Me Day, we will share a special post about the importance of music in our schools. Support our mission to bring Bruno Mars (virtually) to Lorain City Schools by sharing these posts and tagging the Grammy award-winning artists. In the meantime, please mark your calendars for March 28 and get ready to be amazed by our talented students. Thank you for your ongoing support of the arts in our schools. Together, we can make magic happen!

EDUCATION SPOTLIGHT:
Lorain High cafeteria updated with flex seating

The Lorain High School cafeteria has a fresh look and new, flexible seating, allowing students to choose how they dine together. Best of all, the new four-person booths, high-top tables and chairs, and round tables and stools that would look right at home in any café or restaurant were inspired by the desires of Lorain High students. Superintendent Dr. Jeff Graham solicited designs for new seating during a meeting with the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council in 2023. This group of school leaders meets several times a year with Dr. Graham and his leadership team to share ideas on how Lorain High can be a better place for them to learn.

Lorain City Schools readies for the total solar eclipse

Get ready to witness a celestial spectacle! On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will sweep across the skies, and Lorain is at the heart of the action! While it falls during our Spring Break, we're not letting this cosmic event slip by without making it an unforgettable experience for our families. Thanks to the incredible support from Nordon Corp., the US National Science Foundation, and the STEM Funders Network, we've secured solar eclipse glasses just for you! These glasses are the key to safely viewing the sun as it disappears behind the moon. It's like having your front-row seat to one of nature's coolest shows.
